This has just been something that I have noticed since the first day I became interested in internet marketing (a few years ago). I just signed up for Joel Comm’s first ‘tweetathon2009′ (it’s on Feb. 19th, and you can find out more about it here: http://www.tweetathon2009.com ) and in looking at the list of presenters or ‘tweeters’, there were only two women in a line up of 25 people (including Joel Comm). And they were way down at the bottom. Another thing I want to point out before going TOO much further into this is that I think Joel Comm is great. There are a lot of marketers out there making huge incomes like Joel Comm, but from what I know him (I’ve bought multiple things by Joel Comm), he operates his business with integrity and innovation. So none of this is directed at Joel Comm – or any other male for that matter. I’m really just trying to get some dialogue going that will hopefully make people step up and notice all of the women online who operate from the same place and having something of value to offer.

There are way more women now than there were a few years ago who are really making a name for themselves – and it’s fabulous. Social networking has truly been a gift for women wanting to build their online businesses. Women are good at socializing, but we’re also good at a lot of other things as well!

A lot of women I know (who are extremely intelligent) have more or less decided they’re not “technical”. But that’s kind of like saying you don’t like a certain food you’ve never tried. Personally, I made a decision a little over a year ago that there’s no reason I can’t be great at this- I can read (a bit of a junkie actually), I’m intelligent, I’m determined….and if I can put together half of the toys my kids have gotten over the years then I can definitely learn the skills required to build a successful online business. And I’m in this for the long haul….I didn’t expect anything overnight and wouldn’t have it any other way.

So many women desire to work from home and be there for their families while still having something for themselves (using their brain in a different capacity and interacting with other adults). There is NOTHING out there that can provide you with that as well as having the opportunity for a very good income (it’s really up to you how much you earn)- like internet marketing.

So to all the women online who are passionate about what you’re doing – my hats off to you! Keep going. The more women who step up and choose to make a name for yourselves, the more women we can get online…..and even out the numbers. There’s a huge generation of girls who are growing up with technology at their fingertips….let’s show them that they can do whatever they set their minds to do- even if it’s been in a field made up of mostly men.
